Tempe Artists Guild: Go Figure Community Room Exhibition
Exhibition opens Aug. 26
Artists reception: Sept. 5, 5-7 p.m.
Tempe Artists Guild presents Go Figure, a family-friendly art exhibition that explores how artists depict the shapes and forms of living beings.
More than 20 local artists will display original work at the Tempe History Museum, 809 E. Southern Ave. from Aug. 26-Oct. 5. To prepare for the show, members photographed people, animals and even shadows to later develop them into finished compositions in oil, acrylic, pencil, pastel, mixed media and watercolor.
The exhibition is free to attend. The Tempe Artists Guild is a 501(c)(3) organization that promotes and advances the practice of the visual arts. In addition to meetings, the organization offers its members opportunities to display their work, critique works in process, and attend workshops. TAG also supports art-related community projects, including making donations to local school programs and awarding scholarships to art students.
The Tempe History Museum explores Tempe’s identity and builds connections between residents and their community.
